Last year I enrolled in a couple of Fine Art / Grunge photography courses offered by Sebastian Michaels. There are a total of three different courses, which come under My Photo Artistic Life which include: Creative Black and White Photo Artistry, Photoshop Artistry and AWAKE.
AWAKE is a year long course which started January 1st 2018 and I'm looking forward to working my through the course completing it at the end of the year. I hope to learn a lot of new techniques which will push my photography in a new direction. The premise behind My Photo Artistic Life is to explore conceptual or compositional photography, or some may even label it surreal. This basically means you add to the original photographic which does not necessarily mean adding more stuff into the original photograph, though in many cases that is what many photographers in the genre do. I want to "enhance my photographs which can be adding colour toning or other effects, OR, creating concept pieces by adding or combining photographs into one image.
The image above is a surreal composite of a few images, one which is my own, the trawlers on the left. The main background is a photograph of sailboats and shoreline found in the public domain. There are also some textures and other objects in the photo, some of which are very noticeable, others not so much.
I actually entered this image in a photo challenge at Shift Art, a website that is similar in nature to My Photo Artistic Life, where in fact many of the artists are also participants in the AWAKE course. Unfortunately my entry into the February challenge was misplaced so it does not show up, however I have entered another image in the March challenge which is in my Conceptual Art gallery. Hope to have better luck this time around.
